Tarpon migration

I read the post from Jan. about the tarpon that was Pat tagged off Florida and moved NW to the Miss River then back to the Atlantic and up to Cape Cod. I'm not sure of the distance that tarpon traveled what a journey. I wonder if the Gulf and Atlantic tarpon regularily intermix?

Yep... they do from all indications. A couple times fish tagging shows fish leaving Boca Grande that then go up the east coast.

Do you guys have any tagging data on these fish in virginia waters? Would be interested in seeing there migratory habits once they make up there.

check out the 2012 tagging summary report there was a tarpon tagged in keys and tag popped off at Virginia Beach
